Yes, But (Continued from Page 1) 1 In some places around the valley yesterday and this morning, but today on Mt. St. Helena the sun was shining and the only fog to be seen was in the valley below.

At Napa County airport fog slowed air operations C.furday and Sunday, but with the sky clearing yesterday travel increased. Todays 23 reading in Napa (some residents reported 21 on home thermometers) and the 21-degree readings up valley were the coldest to be experienced in this area for many years. In the mid-1930's the temperature did fall to 19 in Napa. The fog combined with the extreme chill produced unusual icing conditions on northern California highways and the Golden Gate and Bay bridges. Throughout the area autos were sent into skids and spins this morning.

The California Highway Patrol announced in San Francisco that extra officers were called out to deal with what was described as a major hazard. There were reports of dangerous icing on both big bridges out of San Francisco, on the Waldo Grade in Marin County and on Skyine Boulevard on the peninsula. The worst tieup appeared to be on U.S. 50 at Altamont Pass, east of Livermore. Crashes blocked all lanes on the major highway between the Bay Area and San Joaquin Valley.

Little temperature change is likely for tonight or tomorrow. Expected low in Napa tonight is 24, with a high tomorrow of 56. Some local fog is again likely tomorrow morning. The driver was Dewey W.

McClelland, 69, of Santa Rosa, was treated for cut and bruises at the hospital and later released, following an accident at Cuttings Wharf Road and Sonoma Road last right. McClelland was hurt when his car collided with the rear of a vehicle being driven by Carl L.

Two Injured Two persons were hurt slightly early Sunday in a rear-end collision on Soscol Avenue, involved were vehicles driven by Floyd Richard Mixon, 33 Berna and LeRoy Taft Hart, 2799 Kilburn Ave. The injured were Martha Frances Hart, 44, and Shirley Marie Mixon, 39.
